I Never Asked to Be A Fisherman...

Listening to: Abandoned Pools - Armed to the Teeth
Well, after the overwhelming success of my first post in this new era, I decided I'd get right at the next on the list and in doing so, begin another new era, the era of consistent posts. Thrice in two days! Fourice in four days! Good.

In 2006, my cousin Nate decided to go to Bible School near me, so he came and lived with us for a while, and then stayed at my Granny's house for the year, which was only a couple of blocks away from where I lived at the time. In the bosom of my parents. Still sucking at their proverbial teats. That's a disgusting and scarring metaphor that I should delete, but it's just a touch funny, so I'll leave it in there.

Anyways, it was during this time that Nate introduced me to the all-too-brief, all-too-hilarious television series, Clone High. I thought the intro song was neato, and Nateo (see that?) told me that it was by this band, Abandoned Pools. So, like I does, I downloaded a couple of their albums to check them out. The first one I got was this one, and I listened to it when I mowed the lawn several days after I got it. I enjoyed it. That could have been due to the music itself, or the fact that I love mowing my lawn.

It's a pretty OK album as far as relatively predictable indie pop stuff goes, not a favorite, and certainly nothing on it comes close to the lyrical genius of their Clone High theme song:
Way, way back in the 1980s,
Secret government employees,
Dug up famous guys and ladies,
And made amusing genetic copies,

Now, the clones are sexy teens, now,
They're gonna make it if they try,
Loving, learning, sharing, judging,
Time to laugh, and shiver, and cry.
The problem for me with listening to this music is that all I want to do now is watch clips of Clone High on the internet. So, I'm going to do that. In fact, I'll even leave you with another of my favorite scenes from the show:
