This Is Streetball. Rules Is: They Is No Rules.
On the advice of a close friend, I went out and played basketball tonite. Now, I haven't really played competitively in a looong time. Like, a year and a half. And on top of that I'm out of shape. Horrifically. So, needless to say, I wasn't really too terribly excited about this.
And then I got on the court with a ball. It was like Special K. Trying it all again for the first time, and I remembered why I love that game so much. I was brought back to my glory days of the early 00's in the dynasty years of the ECHS Lions, and it was exhilirating. All of it. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Ok, the smells not so much, I need to shower, and HOW. But seriously, I don't know why I have stopped. It's just such a great game to play. I love the mind games and the defence and the running and the scoring and the basketball. Go basketball. That's my newish thing, instead of cheering for the teams or the players involved in a sporting event, I choose to cheer for the sport itself. I know a lot of you think the sport can't hear me and that the fact that people are playing it alone should be enough encouragement for it, but I think that each sport needs a good little esteem-boost every so often. How would you feel if you were volleyball, and all the time these people who were playing you garnered all the cheers and all the glory, how would you feel? Huh? Think of the sport, come on, selfish bastards. It doesn't take much to lift the spirits of a down and out sport. I mean, think of how much better badminton could be if people gave it a little encouragement every so often. I mean, sure, some people still play badminton, but it could be THE sport if we helped it along a little. Nobody ever thinks to cheer for badminton. For shame.
Now, how do you feel? Bad? I thought so.
Give me a B! Give me an A! Etc.
Well, that's all for now.
Give me a D! Give me an A! Give me a Y! Give me a T! Give me an ONA! This cheering takes too long to type! Time to shut up!
