Stealing Things
Listening to: Plants and Animals - Parc AvenueToday we walked in the river valley down to Kinsmen park and went into the Running Room store there. It is a cramped little store stuck in the outside corner of the big Kinsmen place. There was a lady there, and because we were so quiet, I kept feeling like she was going to think we were stealers, so I tried really hard not to act like a stealer, even though that made it seem more and more like I was going to take items without paying for them. I was so concerned with the lady thinking I would steal that I made a point of not actually touching any of the goods and keeping my hands out of my pockets where she could see that I was being a good boy. It was foolish. Then we came home and this is what happened:

Not even kidding. Jennie is like twice the size of me.
Plants and Animals is a somewhat lame name for a band. It just seems too easy. But that's OK, because I always think the band is called Parc Avenue, which I think would be a better name, but it is in fact the name of the album. This album is weird. Weird in that it is pretty good, but it just slips by every time I listen to it. I think they have too much in common with the big Canadian acts of today (all those Toronto/Montreal scenesters) and I get bored with it. I think they were maybe on the shortlist for the Polaris Prize a couple of years ago, and I guess I concur with that shortlisting. In fact, they are on my shortlist for the bands I sort of like with sort of dumb names award.
