Yes, The Ol' "Y After AM, Unless It's the Early 90s, Then EE after AIM" Clause

Listening to: Aimee Mann - Bachelor No. 2
So, technically, I should have listened to this album before the previous one, but, let's not get silly here. In fact, in order to avoid a series of posts in a row on the same artist (as there are several artists with up to 20 albums or so) I think I might, in the case of artists with more than one album, go back and forth between top of the list and the bottom of it. Just to vary things a little. How does that sound? What's that? Nobody cares? Good. Just kidding.

You don't see a lot of people naming their kids Aimee these days. Well, you certainly don't see a lot of them spelling it that way. I always thought that was the only way to spell it, as there was one I attended all of elementary and junior high school with. Of course, eventually I was introduced to 'Amy', the simpler, more classic version. To me, the spelling 'Aimee' screams 'early-90s'. Isn't that weird? I know I've thought of this on more than one occasion, but I've never really considered the actual thought. I'm not sure what it is about the A I M double-E spelling that makes me associate it's look and feel with the 90s. I guess the obvious answer is that I went to school with one in the 90's, but I don't think that's totally it. It's partly my sense of what looks good, and my often silly opinions and preferences. For instance, while I very much love our Canadian/British heritage, I love the way 'color', 'humor', and hey, even 'splendor', look without the added 'u'. And that just comes down to personal taste, right? Right.

Wellllll, this album is pretty good. I don't deny that. I think I've decided I like Aimee Mann. It's not mind-blowing or anything, but each track is well-crafted, and they don't all fade together. Good stuff, everyone.

I also knew an "Aimee" in the 90's...

Never met an "Aimee". Would have made fun of them in the same way I made fun of Jenn.

I think you should just review the entire band in one post. That's my vote. Listen to them all, then give them a rating as a whole, balancing in all the CD's together.
