The Starry Void
Listening to: Aimee Mann - Lost In SpaceAimee Mann is growing on me. Originally I just listened to her albums in order to do this Musical Journey thing, but now I find myself really enjoying them. I guess I'm a sucker for female singer-songwriters. (Alanis, you slay me.)
I think one of my favorite places in the world is the Margeret Zeidler Theatre in the Telus World of Science. Not only is the name almost unpronounceable, but it's awesome. I feel like I have thousands of great memories from that place. It's so warm and nice, laying down in those reclining chairs, staring up into a starry indoor sky. Probably I just like it because I got some of my best napping done in that planetarium. One specific instance definitely ranks as number two on my list of my three best naps. The first of the other two being the one time Ian and I had a delicious little naptime up in his room at Pete's more recent Eastglen house. We had been hanging out, waiting for Nick to show up, and decided to make use of the couch and bed. Ian was on his bed, and I fell into the deepest, most refreshing, perfectly timed slumber I had ever experienced. The 3rd best nap (though this one's got an asterisk beside it) I've ever experienced came at the Wong's house, when, after inspiration from Jeff, Nathan, Scott, and Aidan, a fairly large group of us tried to stay awake for 72 hours. I probably made it to about 50 hours or so, when I was caught in a beautiful nap on the couch while the TV droned on in the background. I claimed I wasn't sleeping because I didn't want to look the fool, but I really had fallen asleep. The reason it has an asterisk beside it is that within 15 minutes, my short nap took me all the way through 9 hours of the day. So, I suppose it was a little pre-sleep nap. In any case, it was so warm, comfy, and perfect in that big soft couch.
Of course, if you want to hear some real nap stories, I'm sure my man Steven could really blow our minds. He's definitely number one in my fantasy nap league. What a trooper.
I would say Aimee Mann is probably underrated as a female singer-songwriter. It seems like the genre is dominated by Sheryl Crow and Sarah Maclachlan, and Aimee Mann should probably be right up there. Maybe she is, and I'm woefully out of touch, but the fact remains: this is a good album. (Am I too easily pleased on these "CD Reviews"? I don't know.)

Okay, something bizarre has happened. I was going to post about that nap this week because I'm now into "The NFL nap". That's crazy, though I think it may rank as my number one given how ridiculously awesome it was, and then to have Nick come in and just lay down and listen was hilarious to learn as well.
I've had many a good nap/sleep on that big red comfy couch. Naps are the best.
Yeah, the best part was definitely Nick's eventual arrival. I think he must have felt something special in the air in there. Just wanders in, sees us napping, finds an empty spot on the mattress on the floor and bam. Nap.
Jill, I believe you. Do you remember Mike's song?
oh yes! It was a gem. Mike was so very funny. What a trooper, he really put us all to shame. (although I don't think I really tried very hard... I think I submitted to sleep within the first 24 hours) good times/good memories.
My man's the best napper.
I am 75% asleep, 85% of the time.
Remember our nap after climbing Turtle mountain. That was one of my favorites. We were listening to a mix Cd and I had a place on Caleb's carpet that bathed in sun. Unforgettable.
OH MAN STEVE I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT NAP. I remember Muse playing. And I remember being on that carpet. Man, that nap was unbelievable. I think Josh's little time mix-up (2 hours sleep) and peaking a mountain really helped make that a nap for the ages.
AND OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER LOOK AT WHEN YOU POSTED IT WAS THE 'ZACT SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!
