Pooch.

Today in Linguistics, my teacher put a picture of a dog on the overhead. She said, "What is this?" Of course, being nervous little students, none of us answered her. She seemed a little puzzled and said, "Ok... What is the first word that comes to your mind when you see this?" Obviously we all knew exactly what the picture was, but we were all still too afraid to answer. I suspect people were worried that it may have been some kind of trick question and didn't want to look foolish in front of the others. Eventually, after a pause of an embarrassing length, someone quietly suggested, "Dog?"
